Celebrate Africa at the Mayoral Legacy Concert

Come and celebrate Africa with the Executive Mayor of Tshwane, Cllr Solly Msimanga, as he hosts choirs from around the continent in what is set to become an annual event in the city.

Choirs from various African countries will join the City of Tshwane's choirs as they take some time off from the World Choir Games competitions to rock your socks in a day of great entertainment at the Mayoral Legacy Concert, which celebrates African choirs.

The concert takes place on Sunday, 8 July at the Sun Arena, Time Square at 16:00 – and everyone is welcome to join in a celebration of African melodies.

Hosted by the Executive Mayor of Tshwane, Cllr Solly Msimanga, and sponsored by Sun International, the event is set to become an annual signature event in the city. In keeping with the World Choir Games theme of building bridges through music, the Mayoral Legacy Concert emphasises social cohesion and the creation of new bonds of friendship. The local choirs who join their African counterparts in the celebration will come from schools, communities, tertiary institutions and churches, with voices ranging across all ages.

What makes this event special is that, instead of buying a ticket to attend, everyone is asked to bring a new pair of shoes or a blanket or a packed toiletry bag to gain entry. These gifts will be distributed to the neediest in our city.

If you’re planning to come to the Mayoral Legacy Concert, make sure you arrive at 16:00, with your donation in hand. All the goodies will be collected at the door.
